Happy New Year

5 Jan

So, its a new year. Yay! 2013 was a year filled with a lot of ups and downs and I really imagined myself in a different place at the end of it. I’ve always been a fan of the poem Invictus, and decided that this year I will embody it in everything I do. The last two lines of the poem particularly speak to me. Whenever I am down or feeling unmotivated, I remember that I am in charge and can change/overcome any situation/obstacle I am faced with. So I’ve decided to share it with you guys below:

Out of the night that covers me,
Black as the pit from pole to pole,
I thank whatever gods may be
      For my unconquerable soul.

In the fell clutch of circumstance
I have not winced nor cried aloud.
Under the bludgeonings of chance
My head is bloody, but unbowed.

Beyond this place of wrath and tears
Looms but the Horror of the shade,
And yet the menace of the years
Finds and shall find me unafraid.

It matters not how strait the gate,
How charged with punishments the scroll,
I am the master of my fate,
I am the captain of my soul.
